On 11 November the Danish Parliament passed the bill to grant a temporary residence permit to persons who have assisted Danish authorities, etc. in Afghanistan (hereinafter the Special Law). The Special Law is the basis for granting a temporary residence permit in Denmark to these persons.

The deadline for applying for residence permit under the Special Law as a person who has assisted the Danish authorities in Afghanistan has now expired.

Certain family members of the person who has assisted the Danish authorities in Afghanistan can however still apply for a residence permit under the Special Law. This applies to a foreign national living together in a marriage or a long-term cohabiting relationship with a foreign national who has been granted a residence permit under the Special Law. Similar rules are applicable to unmarried minor children.
